Joy Grimes The violinist and violist, Joy Grimes, regularly performs with the Marsh Chapel Collegium, Exultamus, Boston University Viol Consort, Boston University Baroque Orchestra, the “Well Tempered Trio,” New Bedford Symphony, Nashua Symphony, and Atlantic Symphony. She spent four seasons with the Utah Shakespearian Festival as a Baroque violinist and fiddler, and has participated in the Boston Early Music Festival, Amherst Early Music Festival, and International Baroque Institute at the Longy School of Music. She has studied with Jane Starkman, Dana Maiben, Elizabeth Blumenstock, and Laura Jeppesen and has been privileged to perform under Andrew Lawrence-King, Martin Pearlman, Peter Sykes, Grant Herreid, Webb Wiggins, Arthur Haas, Scott Allen Jarrett, Paul Leenhouts, Ricardo Bordas, and Phoebe Carrai. Joy holds a Bachelors degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she studied with Christine Hinson. She holds a Masters degree from Boston University and is currently a Doctoral candidate under the tutelage of Michelle LaCourse. She has also studied with Jane Starkman, Dana Maiben, Elizabeth Blumenstock, and Laura Jeppesen. Previous to her time in Boston, she performed with the Binghamton Symphony, the Orchestra of the Southern Fingerlakes, and West O’ Clare (an Irish Traditional dance band). |
